Abstract

The investigation of the trend change of climatic parameters during a time scale is one of the most important issues of climatological research. Awareness of the trend of climatic variables is essential for different disciplines such as agriculturists, water managers, irrigation engineers, policymakers, and so on, to make climate-based future projections. In this study, different traditional and relatively new method(s) namely the Mann Kendall test, Spearman's Rho, Regression test, and Innovative Sen trend test were used to determine the trend change of air temperature (T), and precipitation (P) climatological parameters of the Hatay region as a case study. Additionally, the trend of the flow rate of some gauge stations located in the same basin was investigated. Results of methods were compared, and the general trend of the climatological parameters was evaluated based on all used approaches. The methods used were applied in monthly, seasonal, and annual time scales. Only annual graphs were presented to mitigate overrepresentation, and the results of all given time scales were shared with tables. According to the models performed, strikingly, it is evident that there is a significant increasing trend of air temperature and decreasing trend of total precipitation in the study area.
